In a long-anticipated development, accredited journalists from Pakistan, who have secured the coveted World Cup credentials, received communication from the Indian High Commission in Karachi on Tuesday. They were formally invited to embark on the process of visa acquisition for their impending journey across the border to witness cricket’s grand spectacle.

As per reliable sources, the summoned journalists have been instructed to make their way to the nation’s capital, Islamabad, where they are required to personally present their passports at the Indian High Commission. In a marked departure from the standard processing timelines, visas are set to be expeditiously issued on the spot, ensuring timely arrival at Ahmedabad for the highly awaited showdown between the host nation and Pakistan scheduled for Saturday.

It is worth noting that approximately 50 accredited journalists hailing from Pakistan had already diligently submitted the requisite documentation for this purpose, heralding a notable step forward in this diplomatic endeavor. Optimism now abounds that visas for ardent cricket enthusiasts will soon follow suit.

This crucial development comes in the wake of Pakistan’s journalists and cricket aficionados having experienced the bitter disappointment of being unable to attend the national team’s inaugural encounter against the Netherlands last Friday and the subsequent fixture against Sri Lanka on Tuesday. The Pakistan Cricket Board, in a communique issued on Monday, expressed their profound dismay at the protracted delays in visa processing.
