Sydney, In the lead-up to their crucial Test series against Australia, the Pakistan cricket team found themselves in the spotlight due to a viral photo circulating on social media. The image captured the players, including fast bowler Shaheen Afridi, loading their own luggage onto a container truck at Sydney airport.
Addressing the media on Sunday, Afridi shed light on the situation, explaining that the team was pressed for time with only 30 minutes before their next flight. In a bid to expedite the process, the players rallied together, displaying a sense of camaraderie.
“We only had 30 minutes to catch our next flight, and we helped because there were just two people. We wanted to wrap it up fast and save time,” shared Shaheen ahead of the team’s first practice session in Canberra. “We call this team a family and helped them as a family.”
The Pakistan team, led by Shan Masood, arrived in Australia over a week prior to the series commencement, aiming to acclimatize to the conditions Down Under. The team is set to play a practice game in preparation for the Test series, scheduled between December 14 and January 7.
Pakistan is determined to retain its top position in the World Test Championship cycle, with Australia currently positioned fourth. Shaheen expressed confidence in facing the challenge, stating, “We have played against the recently announced Australia’s 14-member squad, and we are all up for this challenge.”
Despite the buzz around the airport photo, the focus remains on Pakistan’s quest for their first-ever Test series win in Australia. The last time Pakistan won a Test match in Australia dates back to 1995, and the team is eager to break the streak.
