During the hearing on the electoral bond issue, the Supreme Court has directed the State Bank of India (SBI) to disclose all possible information related to electoral bonds, including bond numbers.
Additionally, the court has instructed that SBI should not selectively release information but provide full disclosure.
The Solicitor General representing the Centre stated that the primary objective was to tackle black money, emphasizing the importance of the court’s awareness of the implications of its judgment beyond the courtroom.
The court dismissed a petition demanding directions to be issued to SBI during the proceedings. Chief Justice DY Chandrachud reiterated the judiciary’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and working within the framework of the Constitution, emphasizing that the court’s role is to ensure governance through the rule of law.
