In a momentous event, the iconic BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi, set to be the region’s first traditional Hindu stone temple, is just 73 days away from its grand opening on February 14, 2024. The temple, constructed by BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, has been under development since December 2019, and its completion is now on the horizon.

Recent ceremonies, including the showering of flower petals over the spires by Sadguru Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami, the global convener of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, marked significant progress. The seven spires, representing each emirate of the UAE, were blessed during a ritual performed by Ishwarcharan Swami and Pujya Brahmaviharidas Swami.

Constructed on 27 acres of land in Abu Mureikha, off the Dubai-Abu Dhabi highway, the temple made of pink sandstones and white marble stands as a symbol of unity and inclusivity. The complex, parking, and the main pinnacle with smaller pinnacles, all impress with their majestic view.

The temple’s architecture showcases key moments from Indian mythological epics, creating a monumental work of art. Ishwarcharan Swami commended the selfless service and dedication of artisans and volunteers, expressing joy and pride in witnessing the progress.

During his official visit to the UAE, India’s Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, visited the temple. Placing a brick on the temple, he termed it a legacy of Indian civilization that will foster global peace and harmony.

The temple, hailed as a ‘spiritual oasis for global harmony,’ is expected to last over 1,000 years. It will open its doors to the world on February 14 with a ‘Festival of Harmony.’ For more details on the opening ceremony and registration, the Festival of Harmony app or website provides additional information.
