In a bid to offer an exhilarating water sports experience, the Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation has inaugurated water sports activities at the tourism jetty in Diara, near Patna, right on the banks of the Ganges. The newly established sports center, spanning approximately one kilometer along the Ganges in Diara, aims to promote water sports among the people of Patna, eliminating the need for them to travel to places like Goa or Bengal for such adventures.
Operated by BP Sans Fun and Entertainment Private Limited, the water sports activities include the operation of high-speed motorboats, including 10-8 seater boats and jet attacks. Dr. Ashutosh Asthana, CEO of BP Sans Fun and Entertainment, mentioned that the current offerings include rides on high-speed motorboats with charges ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 per person, catering to different preferences.
Now, the residents of Patna can enjoy the thrill of water sports right in their city, eliminating the need to travel to Goa or Mumbai for a similar experience. Aryan Singh, the Adventure Manager at Dream World Water Adventure, highlighted the positive response from locals, emphasizing that the facility is attracting families and friends who are eager to explore the Ganges on motorboats.
Looking ahead, the manager mentioned plans to introduce water bikes before the Holi festival, providing yet another exciting option for water enthusiasts in Patna. The rates for the motorboats vary, with 10-seater boats priced at Rs. 200 per person, 8-seater boats at Rs. 250 per person, and the high-speed jet attack boat at Rs. 500 per person. Safety measures, including the provision of life jackets for boat riders, have been implemented.
Pleased with the response, Ravishankar Upadhyay, an official in the Tourism Department, shared his experience riding the high-speed jet attack motorboat on the Ganges, expressing the unique joy it brings. With the operation running from 11 AM to 6 PM daily, Patna is witnessing a growing crowd of enthusiasts eager to explore the river’s waves.
As water sports gain popularity, the tourism department is optimistic about attracting more visitors to the Diara Ghat and nearby Marine Drive, creating a vibrant hub for adventure seekers in Patna. The positive word of mouth and social media posts from tourists experiencing the thrill of water sports indicate a promising trend of increasing footfalls at the site.
