Hyderabad: As the consecration of the Ram temple in Ayodhya approaches on January 22, Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), has urged Muslim youths to remain vigilant regarding the activities of the Centre. He emphasized that mosques across the country should stay populated. This has sparked sharp reactions from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Days ahead of the scheduled consecration, Owaisi, referring to the Babri Masjid, remarked that the place where the Quran was recited for the past 500 years is no longer under their control.
“Young people, I am telling you, we have lost our masjid and you are seeing what is being done there. Don’t you have pain in your hearts?” Owaisi questioned during a program in Bhavani Nagar on Monday.
He added, “The place where we sat and recited the Quran for 500 years is not in our hands today. Young people, don’t you see that a conspiracy is taking place regarding three to four more mosques, in which the Sunheri Masjid (Golden Mosque) of Delhi is also included?”
Owaisi called upon young Muslims to remain alert and united, urging them to keep mosques populated. He expressed concern about potential attempts to take away these mosques.
Reacting to Owaisi’s statement, BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya accused the Hyderabad MP of “communalizing the consecration of Ram Mandir.” He questioned Owaisi’s silence when mosques were demolished in Hyderabad in 2020 for constructing the Secretariat.
The consecration ceremony of Ayodhya’s Ram temple is set to be held over seven days, starting on January 16, with the main event on January 22.
