Patna, Bihar witnessed a sudden change in weather from Sunday midnight. Clouds enveloped the sky, and around 11 PM, rain started, which has now slowed down. Meteorologists predict the possibility of rain continuing into Tuesday. The precipitation has led to a decrease in temperature, bringing back the chill that residents had experienced a week ago.

For the past week, people had been dealing with intense cold, but Monday saw a minimum temperature of 19 degrees in the city, once again prompting everyone to brace for the cold. The brisk wind added to the chill, affecting not only Patna but also the surrounding districts.

Farmers Rejoice as Faces Bloom

The rain brought smiles to farmers’ faces, with experts forecasting a likelihood of continued cold and rain in the region for the next three days. Agricultural scientist Dr. Devkaran mentioned that the rain acted as a lifeline for crops, reviving those in the fields, although some flowering crops may experience partial damage. The current light rain is not expected to cause significant harm, but there is a possibility of flower drop in crops like mustard and sesame. However, hopes are high for a good wheat harvest.

Caution for Farmers

Experts advise farmers in the Patna region to be cautious as the southeast winds on Monday maintained a speed of 11.5 km per hour. Rural areas also experienced increased humidity, benefiting the fields. However, farmers remain concerned about the impact of strong winds after the rain. Scientists suggest that applying urea to wheat crops post-rain could enhance productivity. Overall, the rain is seen as beneficial for wheat cultivation.

Farmers are relieved with the colder temperatures, and experts recommend patience for those planning to plow their fields. It is expected that the cool spell, along with intermittent rain, will persist for the next three days. Dense fog is likely throughout the day due to the presence of heavy clouds. Monday’s sudden change in weather brought a quiet atmosphere to the market. Although the temperature drop isn’t drastic, the day remained chilly, leading to fewer people venturing out for activities like morning walks. The streets were quieter, and the cool breeze continued into the night, bringing about a two-degree drop in nighttime temperatures.
