Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu evaded assuming responsibility for the October 7 attack on the nation, opting to defer such inquiries until the conclusion of the ongoing conflict with Hamas. In the face of mounting criticism for his failure to anticipate the deadliest assault on Israel, Netanyahu stressed the imperative of national unity, emphasizing the need to unite the country to secure victory over Hamas. While acknowledging the gravity of questions surrounding the attack, he underscored the present need for unifying the country. The Prime Minister reiterated his commitment to achieving victory and steadfastly adhered to his position on halting the fighting only when the hostages are released. Responding to international calls for a ceasefire, he expressed reluctance toward extended pauses, asserting that Hamas aims to exploit such breaks to dissipate the battle against them. Netanyahu provided detailed insight into Israel’s ongoing efforts, emphasizing the establishment of safe corridors for civilians while maintaining a firm stance against granting immunity to Hamas. As the conflict unfolds, Netanyahu laid out his vision for a post-war Gaza, emphasizing a robust security role accompanied by a reconstructed civilian authority committed to fighting terrorism and fostering a future of peace and cooperation.
