Eden Gardens,In a compelling second semi-final clash of the 50-over World Cup, Australia showcased bowling prowess, dismissing South Africa for a subpar 212, even in the face of David Miller’s resilient century.

South African captain Temba Bavuma’s decision to bat under overcast skies backfired as they found themselves struggling at 24-4 within 12 overs, with a brief interruption due to light rain.

Australia, exhibiting precision with the ball and agility in the field, intensified the pressure on their opponents. Despite Miller and Heinrich Klaasen’s efforts, forming a crucial 95-run partnership, Travis Head’s double breakthroughs swung the momentum back in Australia’s favor.

The match witnessed stellar performances, notably Miller’s defiance against Pat Cummins, scoring a remarkable century. However, Cummins, along with Mitchell Starc, clinched three wickets each, maintaining Australia’s dominance.

Heinrich Klaasen, after a commendable contribution, walked back to the pavilion, leaving South Africa with a challenging target.

The intense encounter at Eden Gardens sets the stage for a compelling final showdown in Ahmedabad on Sunday, as India secured their spot by defeating New Zealand in the first semi-final.
