Patna, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, a key strategist for the BJP, delivered an encouraging message to Bihar BJP leaders during the 26th Eastern Zonal Council meeting in Patna. The meeting, attended by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav, and representatives from Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha, emphasized the importance of maintaining the party’s winning streak in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
After the three-hour session at the Chief Minister’s secretariat, Amit Shah met with members of the Bihar BJP core committee at the State Guest House. Among those present were Union MoS Home Nityanand Rai, former Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi, and opposition leader Vijay Kumar Sinha. Although the specifics of the meeting remain undisclosed, leaders hinted that Shah urged them to continue the party’s success in Lok Sabha elections.
Despite the BJP’s previous strong performance in Bihar, winning all 17 contested seats in the last Lok Sabha polls, the party faces challenges in the upcoming elections with Nitish Kumar’s departure from the alliance. Kumar, who contributed 16 seats to the NDA in 2019, has joined the Mahagathbandhan, aligning with Congress, RJD, and three Left parties.
To counter Kumar’s exit, the BJP has incorporated former allies like Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha into the NDA. Additionally, they have gained the support of the late Ram Vilas Paswan’s brother Pashupati Kumar Paras and son Chirag Paswan.
Amit Shah’s visit reflects the party’s strategic efforts to navigate the complex political landscape in Bihar ahead of the crucial 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
