On Independence Day 2023, Google Doodle marked India’s 77th anniversary of independence by showcasing the rich textile craft traditions from different states and union territories.

Before delving into the intriguing cultural blend of the doodle, the tech giant provided the audience with an overview of the significance of this historic day, along with information about the artist behind the impressive design.

Today’s doodle design commemorates India’s Independence Day and is illustrated by New Delhi-based guest artist Namrata Kumar.

On this day in 1947, a new era dawned as India became independent from British rule. The description conveyed warm wishes for a happy Independence Day to India.

Kumar also shared insights into the idea and inspiration behind the doodle’s style. Her aim was to represent the diverse geographical regions of the country in a balanced manner. Throughout the creative process, the overarching goal was to honor and celebrate India’s textiles and their profound connection to the nation’s identity.
