Health Tips: The heat in Bihar has become severe. The sun is shining brightly after 8 a.m. and people are not getting relief from the scorching sun until 4 p.m. According to doctors, going out in the intense sun can be quite harmful to health. The risk of heatstroke is most pronounced when out in the intense sun. It is essential to take some precautions before going out in the heat to prevent heat-related illnesses.

Advice for Keeping Children Safe

The weather department has predicted a further increase in temperature from April 22. In such a situation, doctors advise taking full precautions before exposing children to intense sunlight and hot air. Children are becoming victims of dehydration due to a lack of water in the body.

Protect Children from the Sun, Administer Vaccines for Measles and Diarrhea

The number of children suffering from allergies, diarrhea, burning eyes, cold, cough, fever, and body pain, among other illnesses, has increased in government and private hospitals. Former Head of Pediatrics at JLNMCCH, Bhagalpur, Dr. RK Sinha, has suggested administering the measles and rotavirus vaccines to children, including the vaccine for diarrhea. Protect children from the sun. Allergy complaints are increasing due to dust. Administer ORS solution for severe diarrhea. Contact a doctor.

Avoid Going Out in the Afternoon Unless Absolutely Necessary

Wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothes whenever possible.

Keep drinking water at regular intervals.

Drink water with glucose if possible.

Eat light and small meals multiple times, and never eat leftover food.

Avoid eating stale food.

Do not let children go out to play in the intense sun.

When going out, carry a hat, scarf, or umbrella.

Precautions to Take in Case of Heatstroke

In case of heatstroke, soak a towel or cloth in cold water and place it on the head.

Keep wiping the entire body repeatedly to prevent the body temperature from rising.

Drink raw mango juice, sattu drink, and coconut water.

Consume ORS and glucose.

Freshly made dal water, mixed with a little salt, will be beneficial for children.

In case of a serious condition, admit the patient to the nearest hospital immediately.
