In the run-up to the crucial floor test in Bihar, Union Minister Amit Shah is set to virtually address a workshop for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lawmakers in Bodh Gaya. Meanwhile, the Janata Dal (United) or JD(U), a key ally in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), has called its legislators to gather in Patna over the weekend in preparation for the impending assembly session starting Monday.

The NDA, comprising 128 legislators in the 243-member Bihar assembly, faces the floor test on Monday. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Congress, and Left parties collectively hold 114 lawmakers, with the RJD being the single largest party in the House with 79 legislators.

Bihar BJP president Samrat Choudhary affirmed that the workshop was pre-scheduled, and legislators would return to Patna by Sunday evening for the crucial assembly session. Dismissing RJD’s insistence on uncertainty, Choudhary expressed confidence in a smooth floor test, asserting they have clear numbers.

JD(U) leader Neeraj Kumar echoed the assurance, stating, “The name of our party is United. If anyone has the support of any MLA [member of legislative assembly] from another party, they should come out and speak. RJD leadership is restless, and we cannot help it.”

As the political landscape intensifies, the NDA aims to maintain unity ahead of the floor test, while the opposition speculates on potential strategies. The stage is set for a critical political event that will determine the fate of the NDA government in Bihar.
