KK Pathak has put an end to the services of guest teachers in all high schools of Bihar from April 1. In this regard, Director of Secondary Education Kanhaiya Prasad Srivastava has written a letter to all district education officers. He has made it clear that no guest teachers will be employed after April 1, 2024, regardless of the circumstances. The director stated that after the appointment of 94,738 teachers in the state, there is no need to employ guest teachers. Referring to Resolution No. 51 dated January 25, 2018, of the education department, he said that the service of guest teachers providing service on the prescribed salary in the high schools of the state is being taken. According to the provisions made in the said resolution, the service of guest teachers was to be taken until the appointment of regular teachers. Presently, 37,847 teachers for classes 9 and 10 and 56,891 teachers for classes 11 and 12, totaling 94,738 teachers, have been appointed.

The appointment ends on April 1
The letter mentioned that newly appointed teachers have also been placed in schools. They are working in their respective schools. In this situation, there is no need to keep guest teachers in service. The director said that their service would not be taken from April 1. Not only this, he has also instructed to provide a certificate of absence of guest teachers in his district. The department has been directed to send this certificate by April 3.

Last day of employment
Today is the last day of employment for guest teachers. From tomorrow, they will be unemployed. In fact, the government’s order is that guest teachers have to quit their jobs. Now they will have to look for another job. Guest teachers are also worried about the future as they knew that along with the appointment of teachers in their subject, their job would also end. Now they are being removed in the light of the same order.

Department’s previous order
In Resolution No. 51 dated January 25, 2018, and Resolution No. 371 dated July 03, 2023, of the Education Department, it has been clearly stated that if a regular teacher is appointed in the subject on which the guest teacher is providing service, then the service of guest teachers should not be taken. These guest teachers are only working in secondary and higher secondary schools. The Education Department had clarified in letter no. 25, serial number 5, that guest teachers would remain in service in the concerned schools until the appointment of teachers.
