The Karnataka government has included Muslims in the Other Backward Classes (OBC) category to provide them with the benefits of reservation. This information was provided by the National Backward Classes Commission. According to a report from the news agency ANI, the National Backward Classes Commission stated that based on the figures of the Karnataka government, all communities and castes of Muslims in Karnataka have been included in the OBC list for reservation in employment and educational institutions under the state government. Under Category II-B, all Muslims in the state of Karnataka have been considered as OBC.

PM Modi launches a scathing attack

During an election rally in Ambikapur, Prime Minister Modi launched a scathing attack on the Congress, saying that it wants to implement reservation on the basis of religion in the country. He stated, “When the Congress manifesto came, I have been saying since then that the Congress manifesto bears the stamp of the Muslim League. When the Constitution was being drafted, after much discussion and thought, it was decided under the leadership of Baba Saheb Ambedkar that there would be no reservation in India on the basis of religion. If there is reservation, it will be for my Dalit brothers and sisters, it will be for my Adivasi brothers and sisters. But there will be no reservation on the basis of religion. But the hungry-for-votes Congress never cared about the words of these great men, never talked about the sanctity of the Constitution, never talked about the words of Baba Saheb Ambedkar.”

Previous attempts to provide reservation based on religion

The Prime Minister alleged that the Congress had previously attempted to provide reservation based on religion in Andhra Pradesh. Congress had planned to implement it across the country. They had spoken about 15% reservation based on religion and had also said that the quota of SC, ST, OBC should be reduced, and some people should be given reservation based on religion. He said that in their 2009 manifesto, the Congress had expressed the same intention, and in the 2014 Congress manifesto, they had clearly stated that they would never leave this issue. It means they will provide reservation based on religion. If it is necessary to reduce the reservation for Dalits, for Adivasis, they will.

A significant part of the OBC community’s benefit has been cut – PM Modi

The Prime Minister said that the Congress government in Karnataka has committed another sin. They have included all the castes of the Muslim community in the OBC quota, making them OBC. That is, a significant part of the benefit that our OBC community used to get has been cut. There, the Congress has insulted social justice, murdered it, and even murdered religious neutrality. The model of Karnataka wants to implement Congress throughout the country. Congress wants to change the constitution and give the right of SC, ST, OBC to their vote bank.
