Before the second phase of voting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge penned a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the letter, Kharge expressed his desire to meet with the Prime Minister to clarify the stance of his party’s manifesto, ensuring that the Prime Minister refrains from making any incorrect statements. This comes after Prime Minister Modi accused the Congress of engaging in ‘wealth redistribution’ and ‘inheritance tax’ during his election campaign, prompting Kharge to write this letter.

Kharge voiced concerns about the Prime Minister’s recent statements, noting that such rhetoric undermines the dignity of the Prime Ministerial position. He criticized Modi for his use of language that fosters communal division, suggesting that such behavior diminishes the prestige of the Prime Minister’s office. Kharge emphasized the importance of maintaining decorum, especially during the electoral process, as the public will remember the Prime Minister’s use of inappropriate language once the elections conclude.

Furthermore, Kharge highlighted that the Prime Minister is being misled by his advisors regarding aspects not included in the Congress manifesto. He expressed his willingness to personally meet with Modi to clarify the details of their manifesto, ensuring that the Prime Minister refrains from making statements that are factually incorrect.

PM Modi Continues Criticism of Congress Manifesto

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has consistently targeted the Congress manifesto during his rallies and public addresses throughout the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He has repeatedly alleged that the Congress intends to implement plans to confiscate people’s assets and redistribute them among specific communities. Modi specifically referenced Congress leader Sam Pitroda’s remarks on ‘inheritance tax,’ claiming that the Congress aims to seize people’s hard-earned wealth.

Rahul Gandhi Accuses BJP-RSS of Undermining Democracy and Constitution

Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, in a video message, accused the BJP-RSS of actively working to dismantle democracy and the Constitution. Gandhi’s statement comes amidst ongoing political rhetoric and campaigning ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.

The second phase of voting in Uttar Pradesh has become a battleground for all political parties, with each vying to secure victory. Candidates, including Akhilesh Yadav, have entered the fray with the blessings of influential figures like Shivpal Yadav, further intensifying the electoral competition.

As the electoral process unfolds, Prime Minister Modi continues to assert India’s commitment to safeguarding its borders, particularly in light of recent developments along the border. He emphasized the government’s resolve to provide freedom and security to the nation’s soldiers deployed in border areas.
