The agitation sparked by exorbitant electricity charges, which initially ignited in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK) earlier this month, has swiftly burgeoned into a nationwide conflagration throughout Pakistan. A plethora of cities and towns are grappling with violent upheavals as irate citizens decry the overwhelming surge in essential commodities’ prices. Reverberating across social media are fervent appeals for a campaign of civil disobedience, with the resonating call for abstention from settling electricity bills resonating even from mosque loudspeakers in PoK.

The enormity of this socio-political turbulence has compelled the Interim Prime Minister of Pakistan, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, to urgently convene an emergency deliberation, seeking a viable resolution within the limited temporal scope of 48 hours
