Jaipur,In response to the delay in government formation in Rajasthan, several BJP MLAs, both new and former, converged at the residence of former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje in Jaipur. The BJP, having secured 115 seats in the 199-member assembly, is yet to announce the formation of governments in the recently won states, including Rajasthan.
Vasundhara Raje, who previously served as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, is speculated to be a key figure in the discussions. Other names, including Baba Balak Nath, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Diya Kumari, have also been rumored for the coveted chief ministerial role.
The delay in announcing the CMs in the three states—Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh—was attributed by outgoing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot to the lack of discipline within the Congress party. BJP MLA Kalicharan Saraf countered Gehlot’s claim, highlighting that the Congress itself took 16 days to decide its chief minister in 2018.
The BJP’s democratic approach to handling such matters, involving observers and a report to the high command, was emphasized, contrasting it with the Congress’ alleged dictatorial approach.
Notably, tensions rose earlier in the week when the father of BJP MLA Lalit Meena claimed that his son was confined in a resort by four new MLAs, including Dushyant Singh, the son of Vasundhara Raje. Raje had a meeting with BJP chief JP Nadda in the national capital.
