In a remarkable turn of events, the action-packed film “Jawan,” led by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, is continuing its triumphant march at the domestic box office. After a spectacular opening week, the movie once again gained momentum during its second weekend, amassing an impressive ₹31.50 crore on its second Saturday, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This remarkable performance has catapulted the film’s net domestic collections to a staggering ₹440.48 crore. Given its current trajectory, it is poised to breach the coveted ₹500 crore milestone on Sunday.

Jawan recorded a commendable 37.29% occupancy rate in the Hindi market, with a significant portion of the audience favoring night-time screenings. In the Tamil and Telugu markets, the occupancy rates were reported at 33.51% and 29.40%, respectively. Well-known film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the film’s box office collections at national cinema chains until 9.45 pm on Saturday. In a tweet, he stated, “#Jawan THE HURRICANE… Biz JUMPS on Sat… National chains… Week 2…Saturday at 9.45 pm…⭐️ #PVR + #INOX: 11.80 cr ⭐️ #Cinepolis: 3.10 cr ⭐️ Total: ₹ 14.90 cr

According to Red Chillies Entertainment, the film’s production company, “Jawan” has raked in an astonishing ₹735.02 crore worldwide. Given the rapid pace at which these numbers are climbing, it is anticipated to join the elite ₹1000 crore club in the coming week.

If “Jawan” indeed crosses the ₹500 crore mark, it would mark the third film this year to achieve this historic milestone in the Hindi film industry. The precedent was set by Shah Rukh Khan’s “Pathaan” (₹543.05 crore), followed by Sunny Deol’s “Gadar 2” (₹517.28 crore). This monumental achievement stands out, as no other Hindi film has even crossed the ₹400 crore threshold until now. For a considerable period, the highest-grossing Bollywood film remained “Dangal,” with ₹387.38 crore in earnings.

The success of “Jawan” has been a subject of discussion lately, with director Atlee acknowledging the film’s budget overrun. He remarked, “I narrated the film on a Zoom call during COVID times. I know theatrical footfall was going down, and people were not ready to greenlight even a ₹30-40 crore film. I know because I am also a producer. But sir (Shah Rukh Khan) greenlighted a ₹300 crore film when everyone was skeptical.” He added humorously, “But we didn’t finish at ₹300 crore. We went more.”

The film’s exceptional performance at the box office is a testament to Shah Rukh Khan’s enduring star power and the audience’s love for high-octane action films.
