New Delhi, In a remarkable turn of events, Sai Sudharsan, the rising star from Gujarat Titans, marked his One Day International (ODI) debut for Team India in the series opener against South Africa. Sudharsan, who made waves with his impressive performances in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, received his maiden India cap from stand-in skipper KL Rahul.

Former GT skipper Hardik Pandya, recognizing Sudharsan’s potential, had previously predicted the youngster’s significant contributions to franchise cricket and, eventually, to the Indian national team. Sudharsan’s journey to the national squad began with GT signing him for a modest INR 20 lakh at the IPL 2022 auction.

The debutant, known for his dynamic batting style, had a stellar debut season with the Titans, scoring 145 runs in 5 matches. His outstanding performances continued in subsequent tournaments, including the Vijay Hazare Trophy, where he represented Tamil Nadu. Sudharsan’s impactful contributions earned him the spotlight, making him one of the most exciting prospects in Indian cricket.

The ODI series opener against South Africa witnessed Sudharsan’s induction into the playing XI, and his inclusion was acknowledged by KL Rahul during the traditional toss at New Wanderers Stadium. As Sudharsan steps onto the international stage, cricket enthusiasts eagerly anticipate his future exploits for both franchise and country.
