In Sangrampur Block area of Mungeer district, Bihar, the village of Bahiyar in Supaur Jamua witnessed a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon. Approximately 30 acres of wheat crop were reduced to ashes in this incident. It is being reported that the fire erupted from the dry stalks in the field due to sparks emanating from transformers located in the agricultural feeder.
According to information, on Wednesday, sparks emitted from transformers installed in the fields for agricultural work ignited a fire in the dry stalks present there. Some farmers present in the field attempted to extinguish it, considering it a minor fire, but due to strong winds and dry crops, the fire quickly took a ferocious form, engulfing the wheat crop in flames.
30 acres of land left with only ashes
Lalan Singh, a witness to the incident, informed Sangrampur police station chief Ruby Kant Kachhap and local MLA Rajeev Kumar Singh about it. Subsequently, a firefighting team from the fire department rushed to the scene with firefighting equipment and managed to control the fire, but by then, approximately 30 acres of wheat crop had been reduced to ashes. Sub-Divisional Officer Nishith Nandan confirmed receiving information about the incident and assured that affected individuals would be provided with appropriate government assistance.
Sudden Fire in Khalihan, Wheat Crop of Farmers Turned into Ashes
Meanwhile, in Halsi area under Lakhisarai district, in the village of Shekhapurwa, at around 2 o’clock on Wednesday afternoon, an abrupt fire broke out in the eastern Khalihan, causing nine farmers to lose 1400 quintals of wheat and 28 thousand empty rice sacks. Village representatives Yogendra Rai, Bhim Sharma, Janardan Manjhi, Sakaldev Yadav, Mannu Yadav, Kampani Yadav, Sakendra Yadav, Anil Yadav, Deepak Kumar, among others, stated that the sudden fire caused panic in the village.
The fire department was informed by the villagers, but by the time it arrived and the fire was extinguished, considerable damage had already been done. The wheat crop stored by Madhu Yadav, son of Kisun Yadav, Pyar Yadav, son of Baiju Yadav, Mannu Yadav, son of Arjun Yadav, Company Yadav, son of Shakaldev Yadav, Anil Yadav, son of Indradev Yadav, Yogendra Manjhi, son of Sukhi Manjhi, totaling 1400 quintals in Khalihan, was reduced to ashes.
Reason for the Fire Unknown
In addition, the fire also engulfed the nevadi storage of Degan Pandit’s son Harihar Pandit, Misri Pandit’s son Kashi Pandit, and Mannu Yadav’s son Arjun Yadav, burning 28 thousand empty rice sacks. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
Regarding this matter, Halsi CEO Anjali informed that after receiving an application from the affected families, an investigation will be conducted by the officials. Subsequently, under the provisions of the government, if arrangements for some benefits are made, they will certainly be provided to them.”
