The festival of Holi is celebrated with great enthusiasm across the country. Due to the use of colors, Holi is not only popular in India but also among people in foreign countries. While playing with vibrant colors adds to the fun of Holi, it can also pose risks to our skin, hair, and especially our eyes. Often, we tend to overlook eye care amidst the preparations for food, clothing, and makeup months in advance. However, exposure to chemical-laden colors can lead to eye infections. If you often find yourself troubled by eye infections due to colors, you can protect your eyes from harmful colors by following these tips.

Natural Colors Usage

Playing Holi with organic colors is undoubtedly the best choice for eye care. It prevents issues like redness and swelling in the eyes and is beneficial for your skin as well. Therefore, opt for natural colors instead of chemical-laden ones.

Wear Sunglasses

It’s essential to keep your eyes closed when applying colors to others during Holi. Wearing sunglasses or protective eyewear not only shields your eyes but also adds to your style quotient while playing Holi.

Tie Your Hair

Often, during water-based Holi celebrations, colored water can trickle down from wet hair into your eyes, leading to infections and swelling. To prevent this, tie your hair back securely before playing with colors.

Avoid Wearing Contact Lenses

If you wear contact lenses daily, remove them before indulging in Holi festivities. Chemical-based colors can adhere to the surface of your lenses, and failure to remove them promptly can harm your eyes.

Apply Coconut Oil

To protect your eyes from colors, apply coconut oil generously around your eyes. Not only does this prevent colors from sticking to your eyes, but it also aids in quickly removing colors from your skin.
